Additional Information

Empty Bowls is the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana’s main fundraiser of the year. This year offering both a luncheon and evening event to be held at the Eldorado Casino and Hotel on Thursday, June 6th.

As a hunger relief organization, the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana is the largest distributor of donated foods in the area. We are the only organization in northwest Louisiana that provides this basic need. We solicit, store and distribute food and other essential items to low-income children, families and senior citizens. We distribute food through various programs. The largest is our food distribution program that provides food through our partnerships with over 120 community and faith-based non-profit organizations. Last year, over 6.3 million pounds of food were distributed to food insecure children, women, and men in seven parishes.

Attendees to each event will enjoy a modest lunch/dinner featuring soups, bread, dessert and a beverage.  Every attendee receives a bowl of their choice to take home, which serves as a reminder of all the empty bowls in our community that do not get filled.

The luncheon event will be held from 11:30- 1pm on June 6th.  Attendees will be “Bowled Over” by the display of designer bowls and jewelry from Stephen Miller Fine Jewelry, along with the hand-painted bowl they receive with certificates from local businesses.  A special presentation by the Renzi Center will showcase their partnership with the Food Bank’s “Backpack Program” where children receive healthy food to take home each weekend ensuring they have food while not in school.

The evening event will be held from 6:00 – 9:00 pm where hand-painted ceramic bowls, as well as donated goods and services are offered in a silent auction.   The Food Bank will honor an outstanding individual that has supported the organization throughout the year and an outstanding partner agency.

Tickets for each event may be purchased online at http://foodbanknla.tix.com, by calling the Food Bank at (318) 675-2400 ext. 100 or at the door the day of the event.
