With Governor Jindal studying options on how to get the state to opt out of Common Core, 36 business, education and civic groups have asked the governor to keep the new academic standards.

Council for a Better Louisiana president Barry Erwin reminds the governor that most members of BESE and the Legislature support Common Core. The organization drafted a letter to the governor stating "We believe this action would constitute executive overreach that violates every aspect of the spirit of the democratic process".

Common Core is controversial with some states like Indiana,Oklahoma, and South Carolina ditching CC entirely. In addition the Gates Foundation has suggested a two year moratorium on any new states making decisions which are based on the new testing standards. Bill Gates has questions as to the effectiveness of the tests.
