Early-Morning Shooting Leaves Shreveport Man Wounded
Shortly after 4 this morning, Shreveport police were called out to the 3800 block of Martha, where they found 31-year-old Benny Thomas suffering from a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. Their investigation revealed that Thomas was walking across the parking area of the Morning Star Baptist Church, when he was approached by a man wearing a black hoodie with a white bandanna across his face. Thomas told police the man demanded money and a struggle ensued over the gun, when it discharged. The suspect took off on foot after the shooting, and Thomas was taken to LSU Hospital, where he's listed in stable condition. The suspect is described as a black male, about 5'9" and 160 pounds, with a light to medium skin tone.
