Dr. Cade Brumley, outgoing Superintendent of Schools for DeSoto Parish, talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright about his time there, and his plans and challenges in his new position, as he heads south to Jefferson Parish.

Brumley, whose hiring was unanimously approved by the Jefferson Parish school board, expected to begin work at his new position later this month.

During Brumley's tenure as DeSoto head, the parish improved from 49 to 9 in rankings of state school districts, DeSoto schools had the largest ACT score increase in the state, the graduation rate increased 20 points to 96% and the parish was named a "District of Distinction" by the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching.

Brumley, who was elected as President of the Louisiana Superintendents Association last year, came to DeSoto Parish in 2010 and became superintendent in 2012.
