DOTD Chief Stresses Need For Gas Tax Increase

The state's Secretary of the Department of Transportation and Development, Dr. Shawn Wilson, tells 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty that the proposed 17 cent a gallon gas taxis necessary to maintain and improve Louisiana's roads.

Dr. Wilson also explains why the bill, which was passed by the Ways and Means Committee and will move on to House debate, is still a bit of a long shot to be approved by the required 2/3 majority before it can move on to the Louisiana Senate.
