Southland Park Daycare is holding a donation drive to collect some much-needed items for homeless people right here in our own community.
Event hostess Heather Luoma says on Facebook that the main purpose of "Operation Love the Homeless" is to restock the totally empty supply closet at Common Ground. The group goes out every week to deliver vital supplies, as well as love and conversation, to the homeless community.

If there's an abundance of supplies, they'll be shared with the Hub or other local relief organizations. Here's the list of needed items:

Water (individual bottles or gallon jugs-different ones are used for different purposes)
Gatorade (very needed over the next few months with the Louisiana heat)
T-shirts (small, med, large)
Underwear (small, med, large)
Socks
5 gallon buckets
Canned meat (pop top)
Canned fruit (pop top)
Snack cakes
Hygiene items
Disposable razors
Bug spray (Louisiana mosquitoes)
Hand sanitizer
Batteries
Small notebooks and pens

The drive is being held Saturday, August 9, 2014, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Southland Park Daycare is located at 1001 Southland Park Dr. in Shreveport.
