A day after announcing that the St. Pius Child Development Center was to close at the end of the month, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Shreveport has changed their decision following public outcry. Bishop Michael Duca says the St. Pius will stay open for a year and then the Diocese will revisit the issue.

The high cost of maintenance for the building was the reason given for closing the center. However, since the announcement, parents and church members have offered financial support to keep the day care open.
