Police have arrested a local man for a March 13th robbery near downtown Shreveport. Just after 8:15 last night, officers were called to the 900 block of Texas Street to an assault and battery report. That's when they learned that the assault also involved a robbery. Joseph Savice was sitting inside his van, which is sometimes lives in, when an unknown male got in and started beating him. Savice suffered several broken bones in the assault. He was also robbed of a television that was inside the van at the time. A man fitting the suspect's description was seen in the immediate area attempting to sell a TV for narcotics later that same evening. A concerned citizen called police yesterday to report seeing the suspect walking down Youree Drive. Detectives caught up with 29-year-old Tamus Hunter of Shreveport and took him in for questioning. He told them he committed the robbery because he was high on drugs. He was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of armed robbery.
