Domestic violence is a hot topic in Shreveport-Bossier.
DCFS Deputy Secretary of Programs Brent A. Villemarette, LCSW-BACS talked to us about domestic violence programming for our area. DCFS is soliciting grant applications from agencies willing to run a domestic violence shelter and provide other services to victims. Several local agencies are working together to build a program to take over when Providence House closes its Safe House at the end of June.

Brent Villemarette, MSW, LCSW is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who serves as the Deputy Secretary of Programs for DCFS. Villemarette is responsible for the oversight of program initiatives and the development of policy related to child welfare, economic stability, crisis intervention and child development and child safety.
He has been involved in the discussions with Mayor Cedric Glover, the Community Foundation and others to find alternative programming. We look forward to getting an update from Villemarette. He will join us on the air at 8:35 Wednesday morning.
