Louisiana Sen. David Vitter today spoke on the Senate floor in opposition to President Obama’s nomination of Silvia Burwell to be Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services.

"I'll oppose Ms. Burwell’s nomination until the American people get the same exemption from Obamacare as the Washington elite. She’s given no indication in any of her testimony that she’ll change that," Vitter said.

However his opposition at this point may be more symbolic than strategic.

The Senate voted 67-28 on Wednesday (6/5) to advance the nomination of Sylvia Burwell to head the Department of Health and Human Services.

More than 10 Senate Republicans voted with Democrats to end debate on her nomination. Final confirmation could comes as early as Friday (6/6).
