The tensions ran high on week eight of Dancing with the Stars Season 18. Maks Chmerkovskiy didn't hold anything back after he and Olympic ice dancer Merly Davis received harsh criticism from guest judge Abby Lee Miller from TV's "Dance Moms."

While waiting for scores, Maks said, "I don't care about anything she has to say." Meryl and Maks ended up getting an 8 from her for their Rumba, while Bruno Tonioli scored it a 10. (If you check out the YouTube video, it's almost 8 minutes in, during the couple's interview with Erin Andrews.)

Miller didn't make a great impression on many people last night. She got some bizarre looks from the other judges, didn't seem to know which way to hold up her scoring paddles, rambled on about poor technique -- only to give someone a perfect score -- and occasionally talked about everything BUT the performance (example: saying she wished Danica had danced on "The Wonder Years").

She seemed pretty sour after Maks called her out, too. At the end of the show, you could see her chit-chatting with Bruno, with an angry look on her face. (I guess I should have read this story from heavy.com before I watched this particular episode.)

Bruno was a bit snappy during the show, too. While critiquing a performance, he told the audience to "shut up a second!"

Those weren't the only jaw-dropping tid-bits from last night's show, either. One of James Maslow's "Big Time Rush" bandmates told him he and partner Peta Murgatroyd had chemistry "like a married couple." Then he asked if they were dating. That drew a blank stare from Peta, which probably means something's going on there! Rumors have been circulating since day one, when we learned that the two had actually "hooked up" before James went on tour with his band.

As for scores, there were new leaders at the end of the night. Charlie White and Sharna Burgess, and Amy Purdy and Derek Hough, both scored perfect 40s for their first dances -- Quickstep and Argentine Tango, respectively.

Then came the Celebrity Dance Duel, a first for DWTS. Charlie and Sharna were paired up with Candace Cameron Bure and Mark Ballas, performing an amazing Contemporary and scoring 38 judges' points. Amy and Derek danced a hoppin' Jive with James and Peta, earning each couple 39 points. And Danica McKellar, partner Val Chmerkovskiy, Meryl and Val's big bro Maks performed a saucy Samba, scoring a meager 34.

More 10s were handed out last night than any other week so far this season. There have been more injuries than I've ever seen before. But everyone's hanging in there.

In the end, Danica and Val -- who earned 10s from Carrie Ann and Bruno for their tantalizing Tango -- were the ones to be eliminated. I'm going to miss her...she was getting to be such a fantastic dancer. At this point, I'll be sad to see anyone go. The competition is fierce this season!

Looking forward to next week's Semi-Finals...and the Freestyle dances! My favorite! It's also American Icons Night, which should be incredibly interesting.
