Crawfish Eating Contest Highlights Mudbug Madness Saturday

There were fifteen contestants, all vying for the title of 2014 'Mudbug Madness Men's Crawfish Eating Champion'! And their goal: To eat fifteen pounds of boiled 'bugs in fifteen minutes or less.

In the end, only three of the dozen plus were able to complete their task, and Saturday afternoon at Mudbug Madness presented by CenterPoint Energy, a new champion was crowned. Nick Koury is the annual festival's newest king, horking down his fifteen pounds in just about ten minutes. And finishing just a few moments behind, second place finisher Rory Marks and coming in third, defending champ Luke Anderson.

Mudbug Madness continues today (Saturday) and tomorrow at Shreveport's downtown festival Plaza. Tonight's entertainment features Cajun fiddler Waylon Thibodeaux followed by Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys, and coming up Sunday, Steve Naquin and the Ossun Playboys at 5:30 and wraps up with the legendary Chubby Carrier at 8.
