Shreveport-Bossier's premier wine-tasting event takes over Festival Plaza in downtown Shreveport in a couple of months.

Tickets to CORK, a fundraiser for the Red River Revel Arts Festival, usually sell out quickly, too, so this is the perfect time to reserve yours.

The headline event is set for April 5th, 2014, from 2-5 p.m. Cost is $85 a person, and only 1,400 tickets will be sold. Reserved tables for 10 are available for $1,350 and include early VIP entrance.

Guests will be able to taste more than 80 wines of all varieties. The event also features samples of dishes from several of Shreveport-Bossier's finest restaurants, including The Vintage Steakhouse, Ristorante Giuseppe, Bella Fresca, Chianti, Silver Star and more. While sipping and tasting, guests can enjoy live music and raffle drawings for prizes like a reserved table for 10 at next year's festival.

Other CORK events are also scheduled during the weekend of April 3rd through 5th. Thursday the 3rd is the annual Premiere Wine Dinner at Eldorado Resort Casino Shreveport. Premier wines will be paired with an exquisite meal prepared especially for this black-tie-optional event. It starts at 6 p.m. with champagne and hors d'oeuvres at Allure Ultra Lounge and continues at 7 p.m. in The Vintage steakhouse. Tickets for that are $150 each.

Saturday the 5th is the Riedel Glassware Seminar, presented by Glazer's Family of Companies. That's being held at Riverview Hall at 12:30 p.m. The $50 ticket includes a set of four Riedel wine glasses valued at $75, plus a bonus glass from Glazer's. Seminar attendees will learn firsthand how the proper glass can profoundly affect a wine's bouquet and flavor.
