The City of Shreveport will open  "Cooling Centers" at its 15 community centers to provide area citizens a relief from the high heat.  Designated areas at all centers will be available for citizens to receive free bottled water.  “Cooling Centers” will open, starting tomorrow, Tuesday, from 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the larger centers; and 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the smaller centers.  Cooling Center hours of operation will continue until the heat advisory is lifted.

SPAR community centers offer a variety of activities for those cooling out at the centers.  Activities include computer rooms, exercise rooms, Wii games, basketball/volleyball courts, pool, game rooms, cards, dominoes, big screen televisions, and staff dedicated to serving the community’s recreation needs.  Don’t fight the oppressive summer heat, cool out with SPAR!
