Local judges and prosecutors get a report card, of sorts, from a higher court. The Shreveport-based Second Circuit Court of Appeal has upheld convictions and sentences in nine local cases. Those cases were all prosecuted in Caddo District Court by the Caddo District Attorney's Office.
Among the cases reviewed by the appeals court were two second-degree murder convictions and one for manslaughter. In several of the cases, the people convicted were found to be multiple offenders so their sentences were increased -- some to life in prison.
