Louisiana Congressman Rodney Alexander will not seek a seventh term this upcoming election because of the Washington culture.

The former conservative Democrat, now moderate Republican, says he has become weary of the "brutal party politics" of Washington and the never-ending fundraising.

Alexander was first elected as a state representative in 1988 and served in that role until he was elected to Congress in 2002.

The six-term congressman had several good committee positions because of his tenure in Congress.

No word on who will run for his seat.
