You might be paying more for your online purchases if Congress passes legislation aimed at equalizing online stores with brick-and-mortar shops.

Senator Mary Landrieu (D-La.) says this tax will benefit Louisiana, which has been seeing declining sales tax revenue.  She says the state is losing $800 million a year in revenue that would help programs like the TOPS scholarship.

Congressional Republicans are split on the matter over a perceived tax increase and the desire to level the economic playing field.

A vote is expected on May 6th.
