It didn't take a jury long to convict Christopher Cope in the murder of Shreveport police Sargent Timothy Pru

He was on trial for the 2010 shooting death of Shreveport police Sargent Tim Prunty who was killed outside the Circle K store at Bert Kouns and Dean Road. There has been much discussion about testimony from a medical expert who was called by the defense team.  Sargent Prunty was shot five times and ultimatel bled to death. The defense team has been trying to show that Cope never intended to kill the officer.

Caddo Parish Coroner Dr. Todd Thoma has told the jury the wounds to Prunty's lower torso were not survivable. Prunty was shot three times in the legs and once in each foot. The defense witness, Dr. James Lauridson, a forensic pathologist, testified that Prunty could have survived if compression had been applied almost immediately.

Cope could be sentenced to death.
