The Bossier Sheriff's Office is holding an eight-hour church security team training class over a period of two evenings.

The class is scheduled for August 4 and 6 from 6-10PM. The Tuesday class will be held at the Viking Drive Substation and the Thursday class will be held at the BSO Firing Range, located at 2977 Old Plain Dealing Road. You must attend both evenings to receive your certification.

The class is offered at no charge to Bossier Parish residents, but is limited to 30 participants. You'll need to wear suitable clothing for the range, bring drinks and bring your preferred handgun and compatible holster. You also need to bring 200 rounds of the appropriate caliber ammunition.

Anyone attending the training must already have a Louisiana Concealed Handgun Permit. Participants need to leave their weapons and ammunition in their vehicles until instructed otherwise. A gun safety presentation will be made prior to going out on the range.

Each person attending the training has to be approved as a church security team member by the church's pastor.

The deadline to register is July 31. CLICK HERE for the online registration form. You can fax it to 318-965-3526. Call the North Louisiana Criminal Justice Academy for more information at 318-965-3525.
