Child Sex Offender’s Conviction Upheld
The Second Circuit Court of Appeals has upheld the conviction and sentence of Frederick Preston, Junior. A Desoto Parish jury found him guilty in January of 2010 of attempted sexual battery on a 14-year-old girl. Then the DA’s office filed a multiple offender bill against him, which increased the length of his prison term. Preston appealed, saying that the trial court erroneously admitted evidence of his past convictions and that the judge sentenced him improperly. But the Second Circuit disagreed and upheld both his conviction and his sentence.
