Louisiana State Police Troop G is conducting a free child passenger safety seat check-up Wednesday, November 4.

It runs from 7:30-9:30 a.m. at First Bossier, located at 2801 E. Texas Street in Bossier City.

According to an LSP news release, 3 out of 4 child seats are not used correctly. The misuse rate can be attributed to a large variety of child seats available, the great range of children's weights and heights, and the vast array of vehicles in today's market. The misuses span all races, education levels and socioeconomic status.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that during the past 30 years, more than 8,900 lives have been saved by the use of child restraints. It's important that parents ensure children are properly restrained in an appropriate child safety seat, booster seat or seat belt any time they get into a vehicle.

Every Louisiana State Police troop is recognized as a child safety seat 'Inspection Station.' Technicians are available seven days a week to inspect car seats.
