Just before midnight, Shreveport firefighters were called to a residential fire in a duplex in the 600 block of Springhill Street. Flames were shooting an estimated 30 feet into the air when the fire department arrived and the embers ignited the roof of another house -- directly behind the burning one -- in the 600 block of Euclid. It took nearly an hour to bring both fires under control. Nobody was hurt. Investigators think the fire may have been deliberately set.
