A big asphalt overlay project kicked off this morning in Shreveport. Acting City Engineer Robert Westerman tells KEEL News the first streets crews are working on are Pines Road, from Buncombe south to the city limits, and Airport Drive from North Market to Grimmett. But there are many others on the list.

Motorists soon may see an explosion of advertisements plastered on state roads, bridges and rest areas in Louisiana's latest bid to raise cash during lean times.

Shreveport's Department of Water and Sewerage will be repairing a water main and a sanitary sewer manhole on Midway this week.

Work is expected to begin Monday, January 20 on Elvis Presley Avenue, as crews work on restoring the road's median and renovating the exterior of the Municipal Auditorium. The street will be closed through April 1.

The large amount of vehicle traffic expected at Thursday night's sold-out George Strait concert at the CenturyLink Center has Bossier City police advising concertgoers and motorists to plan accordingly.

I-20 westbound is closed at I-220 this afternoon because a couple of 18-wheelers have collided just west of there. City spokesman Mark Natale says a tractor-trailer rig rear ended a tanker truck in the outside lane, crushing the cab of the tractor-trailer.
