March 2-8 marks National Severe Weather Preparedness Week. During this time, the Northwest Louisiana Chapter of the American Red Cross encourages individuals and families to make sure that they are prepared for the severe weather and tornadoes that often affect our communities in the spring.
The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a winter storm warning for a mixture of freezing rain and sleet, in effect until midnight, for the following counties in northeast Texas and southwest Arkansas:
An early-afternoon fire has damaged a vacant Bossier City Apartment building. Firefighters were called to the Coleman Street Apartments in the 1100 block of Coleman, near Bossier High School, just after 1:00.
Shreveport started doing it about a month ago, now Bossier City is getting ready to do the same. The Bossier City Utilities Department will be conducting a free chlorine burnout of its water distribution system.
