Local Cancer Patient Gets Big Honor

Thirteen-year-old Odie Harris was diagnosed with liver cancer with lung metastasis on June 1st of last year. He's received treatment at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, over the past year and continues to fight the battle

Emergency Response Exercise Being Held This Week

A big exercise is coming up this week. Overton Brooks VA Medical Center is participating in a National Level Exercise to test its Federal Coordinating Center capabilities. The exercise will involve other local hospitals, fire departments and emergency responders -- and will provide planning, training and coordination among agencies to better serve citizens during emergency evacuations

Honoring Fallen Officers

The Peace Officers Memorial will be held this Friday, May 20th. It's a combined effort of area law enforcement agencies, and will be hosted by the Bossier Sheriff's Office this year. Fellow officers will bear arms and fire a volley of shots to honor the men and women in law enforcement who have lost their lives

A High Speed Chase Nearly Into Texas, Then Back Into Shreveport, Ends At Wal Mart

This was the scene outside the Pines Road Wal-Mart around 7:45pm this evening. 

A man driving a dark blue 2001 Chevrolet Impala was being stopped by an officer for playing loud music on Audrey Lane in North Shreveport, but he didn't want to stop.  He led police on a chase that took them on westbound I-20, to just before the first Waskom exit, when the suspect turned his car around in the median and headed back eastbound into Louisiana.

Arrests In Shreveport Are Up From Last Year

By far, Louisiana has more people locked up per 100k people than any other state in the Union, by several hundred in fact. 

With that as a backdrop, Shreveport Police report the number of arrests made through April is up 10% when compared with last year’s numbers.
