Saudi Arabian Women Granted the Right to Vote
King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al-Saud of Saudi Arabia announced Sunday that women will now be permitted to vote and run for elected office. In addition, they will participate in the next session of the unelected, advisory Shura Council.
To American women, who’ve had the right to vote for nearly a century, the king’s proclamation may seem overdue and even quaint. In a country, however, where women still cannot drive cars and must have a male relative’s permission to travel abroad, hold a job or even undergo certain medical procedures, the announcement is momentous.

‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ Policy Comes to an End for the Military [VIDEO]
The policy known as “don’t ask, don’t tell,” which has been in place since the Clinton administration, became a thing of the past at 12:01 a.m. on Tuesday when the United States became one of more than 40 countries worldwide allowing gays and lesbians to serve openly in the armed forces.
“They will no longer have to lie in order to help protect us,” said Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Carl Levin in a statement. “The end of ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ is an important victory not just for equality, but integrity.”

Pot Smokers Are Less Likely to Be Obese Than Non-Smokers
People who smoke pot once a week are about 25 percent less likely to be obese than non-smokers.
According to a study by French researchers, marijuana smokers have a 16 percent rate of obeseity, whereas those who don’t partake enjoy a rate of obesity between 22 and 25 percent.
