Some local ministers are trying to stop a new TV sitcom. Shreveport religious leaders say the Cartoon Network show "Black Jesus" mocks and degrades Jesus.

Bishop Brandon with Praise Temple says Jesus is not a dope pusher. The show puts Jesus in Compton, California. On the show, the "Jesus character says 'my back ain't been the same since I carried them fat girls across the river Nile.'"

Reverend C.L. Bryant, host of KEEL's "America on the Edge," says this show is outrageous and is an attack on our creator.

"When someone tries to belittle Jesus to anyone, especially to black folks, it is a tragic day," Bryan said. The show is is set to air beginning on August 7.

A petition has also popped up online asking Cartoon Network to take the show off the air.
