It's a project almost two years in the making.  The City of Shreveport broke ground to begin $3.7 million in renovations at the Cargill Park Sports Complex on September 9, 2015.

On Thursday, July 6, 2017, the City will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open the newly refurbished complex at 2800 Cargill Drive.  The event will be held at 9 a.m. near the championship fields at Cargill Park.

The Cargill Park Sports Complex was originally built in the 1970’s with a second complex added in the 1980’s. It is the Shreveport Public Assembly & Recreation’s (SPAR) regional sports facility.  Comprised of two 4-field complexes and two championship fields, the complex hosts recreational league games and tournaments for both baseball and softball.

The renovations and improvements at Cargill included field grading and drainage, turf and irrigation improvements, lighting, fencing, dugout enlargement, concession building renovations, landscaping, and the addition of championship fields.
