Other candidates qualified to run for Louisiana's U.S. Senate seat being vacated by David Vitter aren't happy that David Duke will also be on the ballot.

Republican Rob Maness of Madisonville issued this statement:

The politics of division that has been pursued by the Obama administration and all those who seek to benefit from dividing our great nation is inexcusable. Now former KKK leader David Duke has decided that he is running to be our Senator. When I rose my hand and enlisted as a servant in the military, I swore to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. I swore to defend the American people regardless of race, religion, or occupation. I still carry this oath with me till this day. We must—in the strongest of terms available—denounce the politics of division from any source. It goes against everything I fought to defend with my military service. I'll be damned if I allow David Duke, Al Sharpton, or any agitator to make a mockery of our nation or the great state of Louisiana. We are a people of faith, conviction, and charity. Americans are united for peace justice, and the rule of law so every American can pursue their dreams. I emphatically denounce every opportunist that would seek to divide our great nation.

Dr. John Fleming's Communications Director had this to say:

Dr. Fleming has always rejected all forms of racism, discrimination, and prejudice. He is wholly focused on uniting all Louisiana voters of all races, creeds, and religions behind his hopeful message of freedom, liberty, and security.

Dr. Charles Boustany issued the following statement:

I strongly denounce the racism, bigotry, and anti-Semitism of David Duke. His views are a relic of ancient history and are repugnant to Louisianians. This election isn’t about looking backwards - it is about uniting our state to build a better future together. David Duke’s candidacy in this race will be a disgraceful sideshow, and nothing more.

We need a Senator who can deliver conservative results. I authored the largest legislative defeat to ObamaCare to date, won two new health clinics for Louisiana veterans, and stood up to fight Obama’s war on oil & gas. Louisianians expect a Senator who can get the job done, and I will continue to articulate why I’m the best candidate to do just that.

Democratic Candidate Caroline Fayard of Baton Rouge also denounces David Duke, and vows to fight hate:

I have a message for David Duke and anyone who might be inclined to support him: Your influence in Louisiana is over.

Let me state right now in the plainest, most unequivocal terms--David Duke and the hate he espouses, the disgusting fear mongering he uses to prey upon people, his blatant racism, and every other vile thing he represents have no place in civil society, much less in the United States Senate.

My campaign is about ensuring justice in all forms--regardless of gender, race or religion. Moving forward, I will eagerly challenge even the most mind-numbingly ignorant vitriol of the most despicable candidate for office our state has ever known.

Public Service Commissioner Foster Campbell issued this statement:

David Duke's destructive rhetoric and legacy have the potential to rip our state and our country apart. Louisiana knows better. I vow to stand up to anyone seeking to divide rather than to unite our people.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee also weighed in:

Louisiana voters will be able to choose from several Republican Senate candidates who will have a great impact on the Bayou State and the future of our country. David Duke is not one of them. He will not have the support of the NRSC under any circumstance.
