Just before spring break, crafters coated a crape myrtle tree in front of Sylvan Friedman Student Union on the Northwestern State University campus in Natchitoches with colorful crochet. This is an ongoing attempt to add warmth to public spaces. Students in an Intro to Fibers art class claim responsibility for the bombings, which raise interest in knitting and crochet. Guerilla knitting isn't the only prioroty for the textile artists...they and students in another art class presented Northwestern's Director of Student Activities Yonna Pasch with an Easter gift of hats they crocheted out of light spring-weight yarns. The students did say the last time they yarn-bombed the campus that it wouldn't be the last time...and I'm sure there will be many more to come.  This is the coolest one I've seen so far!
