44-year-old Derek Daniel was arrested Wednesday outside Sam’s Town Casino where detectives say he was metting a 14-year-old girl for sex.

According to investigators, the year long investigation revealed that Daniel, of Shreveport, while online, engaged in numerous sexually orientated conversations with whom he believed was a 14-year-old female.

During those conversations, Daniel is accused of soliciting sexual favors.  On November 30, 2011, Daniel made preparations to meet the purported 14-year-old female at Sam’s Town Casino in Shreveport.

Upon his arrival and after a positive identification was made, Daniel was taken into custody without incident and later booked into the Caddo Correctional Center  for one count of online solicitation of a minor.

The “Operation Child Watch” inititave is a multi-agency, multi-jurisdictional task force comprised of Louisiana State Police Region II detectives (Lafayette and Shreveport Field Offices), LSP Gaming Agents, St Landry Parish Sheriff Office detectives, Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives, and detectives with the Shreveport Police Department.

Daniel was released on $15,277 bond the next day after being booked into Caddo Correctional Center.
