CHRISTUS Schumpert is once again calling all “Miracle Babies,” who have overcome the odds of prematurity and developmental problems in the hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for the annual NICU Christmas Reunion.   The event will be Sunday, December 11 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Schumpert cafeteria.

This will be the 33rd annual reunion for the nurses, physicians, parents and patients.  More than 100 children – many of them multiples and most in Christmas finery – are expected to pack the hospital’s cafeteria for the event.  Ranging from a few months to their mid-twenties, the NICU alumni and their families will reunite with the nurses, doctors and other clinical staff who helped them survive prematurity, developmental difficulties and critical illness at birth.  Families meet with fellow parents, reunite with hospital staff, scour scrapbooks and visit with Santa.

The reunion will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the cafeteria of CHRISTUS Schumpert, located at One St. Mary Place.  All NICU graduates are invited to attend.  For easy access, attendees may park in front of Sutton Children’s Medical Center and walk straight down the hall to the reunion.
