Big honors for a Caddo Parish elementary school student.

Ashini Modi's artwork is on display at the Louisiana Governor's Mansion after she won 1st place in the age 8-10 group in the 12th Annual Environmental Awareness Art & Language Arts Contest.

This year's theme was 'Biodiversity in Our World.' According to a Caddo Schools news release, the 11-year-old painted a colorful jungle scene using acrylics and aimed to show the immense amount of diversity in wildlife throughout the world.

Her work earned her $200 and a chance to see her art featured in the 2016 Louisiana Environmental Education Commission calendar.

"The young artists of Louisiana never cease to amaze me with their gift of imagination and artistic abilities," said First Lady Supriya Jindal in the news release. "The pieces for the month of July beautifully portray the diversity of wildlife in the great state of Louisiana."

This is Modi's second year to win the contest. She also won first place in last year's competition. It seems this young lady is familiar with being at the top of the pack. She's also the 2015 Elementary Student of the Year for Caddo Schools.
