Summertime is here, and parents of school age kids will be trying to find something for their children to do that is constructive and will keep them out of trouble. The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office is putting together a FREE program to set those parents' minds at ease.

The annual youth summer recreation program sponsored by the Caddo Sheriff's Office kicks off May 31, providing safe, summer activities for area youngsters.

In an announcement released by Sheriff Steve Prator's office, the program is outlined:

Children and teens ages 10 to 18 can participate in basketball and table games like checkers, cards and dominoes from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. The activities will take place in the gymnasiums at North Caddo High School on Airport Road in Vivian; Huntington High School, 6801 Rasberry Lane; Fair Park High School, 3222 Greenwood Road; Booker T. Washington High School, 2104 Milam Street; and Woodlawn High School, 7340 Wyngate Blvd.

The Sheriff also says that each location will be supervised by instructors provided by the Caddo School Board. Pre-registration is not required, and there is no fee; however, participants are required to sign in. The program will continue through July 7.
