Hard to believe, but the holiday shopping season is right around the corner. And the Caddo Sheriff's Office wants to help keep people safe during that busy time of year. So it's hosting a personal safety course for women in preparation for it. The first day of each two-day session covers crime-prevention tips, where participants will learn about crimes like identity theft, burglary and home invasions, and several other topics. Day two covers personal safety tips and firearms familiarization, where attendees will learn about concealed carry laws and participate in supervised shooting exercises. The program is open to women ages 18 and up, and there are three sets of dates to choose from: October 7th and 8th, November 4th and 5th, or December 2nd and 3rd. Each session will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Fridays at Sheriff's Safety Town and from 8 a.m. til 1 p.m. Saturdays at the Caddo Sheriff's Regional Training Academy. The sessions are free, but you'll need to call the sheriff's Community Programs Section to register.
