Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about Wednesday's meeting where it was decided that Sheriff's deputies will assist the Shreveport Police Department in fighting the recent rash of shootings in the city.

Prator tells KEEL listeners that the the meeting, which was attended by the sheriff and his top deputies, Shreveport Mayor Ollie Tyler, SPD Chief Alan Crump and members of both the Shreveport City Council and Caddo Commission, consisted of "two hours of blunt and unvarnished discussion, we reached an accord - pulling the rope in the same direction is what I call it."

Saying, "There's only one right way to skin a cat," Prator continued to describe the agreement reached, "The Caddo Parish Commission has agreed to fund some overtime pay for (Caddo) deputies to patrol some of the outer Shreveport districts that are adjacent to the parish anyway."
