Caddo Parish schools want to make sure they collect the most supplies for south Louisiana flood victims, so they've extended their collection drive another day.

Donors can drop off items to all Caddo Parish Public Schools campuses and centers to support The Salvation Army. The district will sort them and take them to the main distribution facility in Baton Rouge. The Salvation Army will divide the items among affected parishes.

Here are some items you could donate:

Clean-up supplies -- mops, brooks, masks, gloves, sponges

Air freshener, paper towels, garbage bags

Air mattresses, especially twin, blankets

Portable phone chargers

Hygiene items -- soap, deodorant, toilet paper, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shaving cream, etc.

Baby items -- diapers, formula, baby powder, bottles, pacifiers, etc.

Any non-perishable food items

"We are immensely proud of the generosity of our students, families and staff members who have come together to bring good to our fellow Louisianans who have been through so much," said Caddo Schools Superintendent Lamar Goree. "My hope is that we are able to make a difference and help in what we know will be a long process to rebuild and restore."

The collection drive was set to end today, but has been extended through tomorrow, August 23.

Numerous district campuses are also conducting individual drives and adopting specific schools in affected areas. Visit the Caddo Schools website to find out more.
