This is National School Bus Safety Week, and this year's theme is "Be Aware -- Know the Danger Zone." Caddo School Board Transportation Director Otis Jones says one of the most dangerous areas in pupil transportation is the area immediately surrounding the bus as students are being loaded and unloaded. He says it's important for motorists to keep their distance from the buses as they're stopped. Bus drivers are charged with keeping our most-precious cargo, our kids, safe on their way to and from school -- and Jones says it's important they be recognized for that. So tomorrow has been designated "Caddo School Bus Driver Appreciation Day." Bus drivers and attendants get free breakfast tomorrow morning at 8, and a luncheon in their honor takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.
