Caddo Parish Sisters Make the Regional “Louisiana Student of the Year” List

A couple of local sisters are on the Louisiana Student of the Year list. Today, the Louisiana Department of Education has released the names of the 18 regional finalists who will compete for the state title. They'll be made up of one 5th-grade, 8th-grade and 12th-grade student from six regions and represent public and non-public elementary, middle and high schools across Louisiana. This year, 5th-grade South Highlands Elementary student Georgia Hilburn and her sister Samantha Hilburn, an 8th-grader at Caddo Middle Magnet, are on the list for their grade levels. The state selection committee will conduct interviews and review a writing sample from each of the regional finalists before selecting three state winners. We wish our local girls luck.
