In an effort to revitalize Downtown Shreveport, the Caddo Parish Commission voted to allocate 1 million dollars to the Caddo Common Park project. After much debate and discussion, the money will only be allocated if private dollars match the public dollars and if the city of Shreveport gets to maintain the park.

The plan for the park, which is currently a big green parking lot on Texas Avenue, is to have a fountain, an area for food trucks, a sculpture garden and pavilion. The park will need a total of 3 million to be built and the commission won't hand the money over till a million in private dollars are raised.
