Caddo Bookkeeper Arrested For Theft

A Shreveport bookkeeper has been arrested for stealing nearly $168,000 from her long-time employer, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

Susan Kennedy Summers, 48, of the 100 block of Justin Avenue, was arrested on Tuesday and booked into the Caddo Correctional Center for felony theft.

Caddo Sheriff’s Detective Casey Jones said Summers is accused of stealing money by negotiating fraudulent checks from the victim’s personal and business bank accounts. He said Summers juggled funds through several of the victim’s accounts, falsified check registers, and duplicated checks, all for personal gain.

Summers worked as a bookkeeper for the victim for about 13 years and committed the thefts over a period of five years. The victim notified authorities after discovering a large amount of money missing from a retirement account in November.
