The Caddo Parish Animal Control meeting that was set for today has been delayed again.

Committee Chairman Steven Jackson tells KEEL News several key players can not attend the meeting today.

The panel is set to discuss privatizing the local animal shelter.

Earlier this month, a volunteer worker was told not to come back to the shelter to help out.

Ashley Stelly, Caddo Parish Animal Services Adoption Tech told the commission earlier this month "some of the volunteer groups have caused more harm than good at the shelter." Stelly added the volunteers are “less of volunteers and more of overseers”.

Stelly also alleges that the volunteer group Paws 4 Life has limited the rescues that will work with Caddo Parish Animal Services. Eric Baker, the kennel supervisor for CPAS says the shelter has come a long way in improving but "we still have a lot of work to do."

Baker claimed that one volunteer with Paws for Life came in every day to help, but often would try to dictate to the staff. He told the Commission she was a disruption at the shelter.
