Buzzard On Texarkana Power Line Causes Injury And Outages
A buzzard and a power line didn't mix in Texarkana, leading to one man getting injured and over a thousand residents losing power.
The bird landed on a ground wire, which ultimately broke and fell onto a 12,000-volt transmission line.
That line fell onto a man's car, cracking the windshield and leaving him with burns to his side.
It caused about 1,200 SWEPCO customers in the Texarkana-area to lose power, but it was restored about an hour later.
Buzzards can weigh up to five pounds.
