Erin McCarty won't touch it. When I cited the ingredients, Mayor Glover winced. Nonetheless, coffee with butter (also known as Bulletproof Coffee), proclaimed by nutritionists as energy inducing and even fat burning, continues to be a staple of my mornings.

First of all, it's not just any butter. It's two tablespoons of unsalted, grass-fed butter. Grass fed butter is not only free of antibiotics and steroids, but the fatty acids it contains lead to increased energy.

The second ingredient is coconut oil. A teaspoon, to be precise. The medium chain triglycerides in coconut oil has been shown to actually cause fat loss. Plus coconut oil has been proven to be beneficial to brain health.

Ingredient number three, at least for me, is two teaspoons of the plant based sweetener Xylitol. Put the ingredients in a tall mug, add coffee (I take decaf, please) and blend with a hand held blender.
