A burn ban is now in effect for portions of northern Bossier Parish -- specifically, Fire Districts 3, 5, and 7 as well as the Town of Plain Dealing. The area in question straddles Highway 160 -- all the way north to the Arkansas line -- east to the Bossier/Webster Parish line -- and west to the Red River. Public Safety Director Sammy Halphen says that area is extremely dry -- although other parts of the parish have seen sufficient rainfall. Halphen says the bun ban will be lifted as soon as conditions improve.
