Several companies, including Townsquare Media and Shreveport City Hall and companies across the country are under an email attachment threat that began this morning.

The cyber threat, dubbed “IRC.Bot,” is a Trojan or worm that uses a group of hacked computers, called a 'botnet' to quickly attack multiple computers at once.

Currently, IT teams at Townsquare and other companies are working to quarantine and clear the infection from the network and email.

Here’s what you can do to keep your computer safe:
* Do not open any fax attachments, specifically any zipped files attached to an email with the subject line: “You have received a new fa”
* If you do open the attachment, contact your IT specialist immediately.
