Brandon Harris of Parkway was benched and Danny Etling stepped in to provide the spark the LSU Tigers needed to get a 34-13 win over Jacksonville State on Saturday night in Tiger Stadium.

Harris left the field to boos. The crowd greeted Etling with loud cheers, and the ovation only got louder by the quarter’s end.

Here's what coach Miles had to say about the QB change:

We went a couple series and really felt like Brandon was not comfortable. So we figured we would bring Danny in. He was productive certainly almost right away.

LSU got off to a very slow start gaining just 12 total yards in the 1st quarter. After two series, Coach Les Miles decided to sit Harris in favor of Etling. The transfer from Purdue lit a fuse under the team, throwing a 46-yard touchdown pass to tight end DeSean Smith
The junior was not as sharp in the 2nd half. He did not complete a pass after halftime. Etling also threw an interception and fumbled.
Etling finished the night 6-of-14 for 100 yards, one touchdown and one interception.
LSU star running back Leonard Fournette missed the game because of an injury bto his lower leg. Fournette is questionable for Saturday's SEC opener against Mississippi State.Back-up running back Darrel Williams was LSU's leading receiver. He caught 3 passes for 27 yards. LSU's passing game still has a ways to go.
For the second straight game, LSU senior cornerback Tre'Davious White of Green Oaks High School found the end zone. With less than a minute left in the 1st half, Jacksonville State punted the football to White, who fielded the ball at his own 40 yard line. White was knocked back and kept running back about 20 yards, before finally turning up field and racing past all Gamecock defenders for a touchdown and a 27-10 halftime lead for LSU.

The Tigers will host Mississippi State in the SEC opener on September 17th. The Bulldogs bounced back from an upset loss to South Alabama, by beating South Carolina 27-14.
