Early Tuesday morning, around 12:35 am, an officer fatally shot a man in front of a convenience store on N. Foster Drive. Alton Sterling, the man who was killed, was known to sell cds in front of the store.

A video from a witness has surfaced online. In the video, you can an officer tackle Sterling to the ground and second officer jumping on him and pinning him down. One of the officers can be heard yelling, 'he's got a gun'.

One of the officers pulls his weapon and fires off of two shots. A witness told The Advocate police were “aggressive” and said Sterling was armed but was not holding his gun or touching his pockets during the incident.

Protesters and members of Sterling's family are calling for action against the officers involved.
