BPSO Says ‘Drive Sober Or Get Pulled Over’ During Mardi Gras

The Bossier Sheriff’s Office will participate in a statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign from Jan. 29 – Feb. 9 to identify and remove impaired drivers from the roadways during the Mardi Gras festival season.

“Typically, there are more impaired drivers on the roads during the weekends and nights, but that number goes even higher during this time of year and other festive occasions,” said Sgt. Jeff Pleasants, supervisor, Traffic Unit of the Bossier Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies will be out all throughout the parish day and night, and the objective is to keep everyone on the roadways safe.

“Sheriff Whittington’s primary goal is compliance with the law,” said Pleasants. “Driving while impaired affects more than just the person behind the wheel. We want to educate residents before they cause injury or death to themselves or others.”

The campaign is being conducted as part of a $14,040 grant awarded to the Bossier Sheriff’s Office from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission for DWI Enforcement and will be conducted by law enforcement agencies statewide.
