A dozen Bossier Parish teachers have been awarded grant money for classroom enhancements.

This is the 25th year the Bossier Optimist Grants have been handed out. Our local teachers were given more than $18,000 in grant money this year, with a grand total of over $402,000 handed out since the program began.

This year's recipients are:

Jill Hunter and Madora Abney at Apollo Elementary -- Project 3D

Toni Ward at Legacy Elementary -- Project: Science Mobile

Calley Schneider and Leslie Alexander at Central Park Elementary -- Project: CyberPatriot for STEM

Shuntay Wilson and Amber Pierce at Stockwell Place Elementary -- Project: 'Tis the Season for Reading

Brandy Hanks and Casey Lands at Plantation Park -- Project: Saxon Phonics

John Kentrick at Elm Grove Middle -- Project: Google Up

Deborah Lawrence at T.O. Rusheon Middle -- Project: Math Talk

Juan Alvarez at Benton High -- Project: Premier Gala
